Definitely carry a spare halogen bulb. HID ballasts and bulbs are known to blow, and you dont want to be left in the dark!
Thats the main reason Im hesitant with it. That, and the light pattern usually sucks when theyre in a bulb not designed for it....although I guess it would still be better than stock.
More info for those new to HIDs, the further away from 4300k, the less light youll be getting out. Stick with 4300-5000k for best visibility.
I did this using the DDM kit. No need to extend any wires with the DDM it's all plug and play. Mounted the balest in a similar location like the Joe the powder pro. On the fairing bracket. I will upload some photos later.
i just got a kit from custom dynamics. 4300. from the looks of it, it is not a five minute job. i will need to extend the cables to keep it clean and mount all the crap under the seat also. my bike is all apart so it will be a while before i get to this but this thread will be helpful. subscribed!
I dont have fairing. Since you have done so many.Joe is it possible to mount the ballast on the inside of the lamp housing assembly or have you done this for someone?
I'm interested in improving my visibility at night and not sure which is best. I really want to see what you guys choose to go with on your installs and what your results are. I'm kind of new here and this may be a dumb question but how do you subscribe to a thread?
i have mine in my bucket. if you go with a slim ballast and trim out the flares on the inside of the 5 3/4 it should fit... i have also used an extension kit and put the ballast under the seat, works just as well... i would HIGHLY recomend the 35w 6000k kit... best lighting i have found
here are some of my bikes
dual HID with eagle eyes set up we did in my brother Z1000
Here is a link to one on EBay. Would like to try it, but am also worried about fit in a 53/4 bucket. I also have an Adjure lamp with a wave reflector, so that should help with the light pattern. At least that is my theory. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170492679790...84.m1423.l2649
