Default Fork stabilizers????

Ok so Im tinkering with my bike and I have decided that I want to ditch the fork stabilizers and throw some gaiters on.... But I want to hear the pros and cons of the stabilizers. They are the ones that look almost like another T down by the front fender. If I could figure out the posting of pictures on here Id show you. Any ways hoping some people with a bit more experience than me can point me in the right direction ditch em or not? Looks wise I hate em but Im more concerned with the bike riding well than looking good

Default Front forks....

Theoretically, the 39mm forks on your 2000 are susceptible to a bit more flex than the 49mm forks on current Dynas, but depending upon your riding style it's something you may not notice, stabilizer or no stabilizer. I would say go ahead and take off the stabilizer and install the gaiters - if you don't like the way the bike handles you can always backtrack.

I've seen a few people with Gaiters and the brace, I'm not sure which Gaiters they are using, but they sit flush right against the brace

I think the brace kinda takes away from the look Im going for so Ill try it without and like O-town said I can always go back. My next issue is I really want blue gaiters I can find black and red in 39mm but not blue... I found a universal gaiter that says it fits 30-40mm but it looks big at one end and narrow glides are 39mm at both ends... I think if it comes down to it maybe I could order 2 sets and attempt to cut and seem them with two 39mm openings instead of one big end.... well see

I love the look of my Brace. The front end seemed "more solid" after I added it...could'a just been all in my head.

GPR makes a very cool looking (IMHO) Stabilizer that will fit a Dyna, but they a so expensive that I could never bring myself to buy one unless they had something like a 50% off sale. I have only seen GPR Stabilizers on a couple of high end sport bikes, and I guess they are probably worth every penny if you spend your time on your bike in triple digits on a race track.

RS87277 thats a good looking scoot you got. That RSD stabilizer is very low profile I like that should fit the look of your bike well
