A previous owner had added dot 3 or 4 to my '03 which uses dot 5. I had to flush the system with denatured alcohol, and rebuild the calipers and M.C. All the o rings had crap on them. If you flush the system right away it might be alright.

When I opened up mine it looked like someone had poured mercury in my system. It actually was the two different fluids not mixing, like oil and water. I would at least flush the system with denatured alcohol a few times then the dot 4.

Flush it using the correct brake fluid only.

Service manual recommends flushing with denatured alcohol.

I'm thinking denatured alcohol or brake clean would be rough on the seals, so I'm with lo-rider

How can I find out what type of brake fluid I have now? I'm having to replace a busted brake line and will need to put more fluid in soon. This is on a 2007 Wide GLide.

+1 you need a service manual if you plan on doing your own maintenance and repairs. At least pick up a Clymer manual.
