So my brother was telling me that when he bough his first bike (2003 Streetbob) he ordered it as a crate bike a assembled himself.
I'm active duty usmc, going on a deployment in early march, and I plan on buying a new bike when I get back.
Was wondering if anyone could steer me in direction of these crate bikes, and if anyone had any advice or input on them.

No, you cannot order an unassembled bike. I didn't know you ever could??? Buy your bike through military sales while you are deployed. Save some bucks...I have bought a few that way...

I've looked into the program, I think its encs.... Anyway, I've gotten quotes from them as far as buying from them, and the only real perk to buying from them is a 6% drop on the price.
What was your experience with buying while deployed, I like to have eyes on something before I buy it.
To the OP, no disrespect intended, but either you are clueless as to what you're talking about, or your brother's definitely pulling your chain. How could Harley ever warranty a bike that they didn't assemble themselves? And the above poster is correct, there were no Street Glides or Street Bobs in '03.
That's what he told me it was when he brought it up. I'm not to savy on crusiers yet, recently got interested after I road my uncles up from florida.
I could be mistaken or he could be BSing me lol

Depends on where you are. Some bases actually have a bike or two sitting there to look at. Sounds crazy I know...I have always known exactly what I wanted before I left and just ordered when I was gone. I bought a 06 Fatboy and a10 Streetglide that way. Got a heck of a deal both times...I also bought a Fatboy back in 97 from Military sales in Germany. Took two weeks to get. At the time, you couldn't get a new Fatboy stateside without a wait...

Probably said Super Glide. They were around and are Dynas like the Street bob..
