An indy installed mine (06 Low Rider) without removing the primary.

Total cost for parts/labor a little less than$500.

Ok, this is my first post, but im just curious if anybody knows where i can find some powder coated forward controls. I want to put some black ones on instead of chrome. Or should i buy the regular ones and get em powder coated? Im expecting delivery of my '07 Street Bob from AAFEES around the middle of June.

I'm with you ktm_scott; I also have the wide glide and put on the mid pegs to give me a second place to put my feet on longer rides. It really helps to keep my back from stiffening up and it's easier to stand up and stretch when your feet are on the mids.----jack

Forward controls in my opinion, are a must if you are over 6 ft. If you have to move your legs then try what I did. Put on the engine gaurd and add pegs wherever you want. Good luck.

I have mids and highway pegs. I thought about going to forwards, but really do not have a need for them. I down shift & brake with my heels, so about the only time I have my foot on the mids is to up shift or if I am changing foot positions
+ 1

I like being able to move my feet around on the highway pegs (I have the 5" extended ones) without bumping into the shifter or brakes. I am 6 foot tall. This is my second HD in 14 years and both have had mid controls. Guess it is what I am used to.

I Like having mid, and highway pegs, just to be able to move around on a long day of riding.

Wow, this thread had alot of answers I was also looking for about my Super Glide.

Right now, I have highway pegs on and with my big *** feet (size 14) I can easily shift with my heel. Braking though, I am not as comfortable with in this manner which is leaning me towards picking up the Kuryakin 3" extended set up.

I'm glad I got to read some of the opinions about leaving the mids on for optional leg placement during long rides! I was'nt looking forward to the indent in the heat sheild on the brake side sticking out like a sore thumb. Now I have a good reason to leave them in place , lol.

I've always had mids....just feels right to have my feet under me especially if road conditions are questionable and I want extra feeling of control.....probably a myth. My highway pegs let me stretch if I need to.
I agree, and no, I don't consider it a myth. I feel like I have more control, anyway. Maybe it was all those years of sportbikes?

I also prefer my feet under me, and I like a slight forward lean. I'm 6' 4", but I still find the mids to be perfectly comfortable.

I have ridden my buddies' bikes with forward controls, and after about 45 minutes my lower back starts to ache big time... besides, sitting in a position that lookslike a woman at the gynecologist just feels weird. (yes, I am a man)

I can ride mine for hours with the mids, no problem.... and I don't even have highway pegs...

I guess everybody's different.
