I'm 6'4", and I'm perfectly happy with the mids... but then, I consider my Super Glide sort of a big Sporty, anyway...
For some reason, I'm more comfortable with my feet under me. Maybe it's my dirtbike/sportbike background.
The other thing is, every time I've tried out a buddy's bike with forwards, it doesn't agree with my back, for some reason. I get a huge back-ache after 30 minutes.
I'll use the mids until my knees don't bend anymore.
I agree. Same height and I am happy with mids. However a set of Highway pegs for moving the feet out on long trips will come eventually.
I can tell youfrom experience that if you are running an 06 or newer that it's a lot more expensive than that if you do not have extensive mechanical skill. 06 and 07 dynas ( except WG) require the outer and inner primary be removed which means the cluth basket and everything must come out. The design requires it in order to remove the mid shift shaft. A dealer charges 6 hours in just labor. That should bring thetab out somewhere around $$685 and tax. With that being said it was worth every penny as far as riding comfort and control go. If you are riding and 05 or older, you can install them yourself in about 2 hours with no problem. I probably wouldnt have done it if I had known the expense and difficulty before I payed for the controls but I'm sure glad I did. Hope this helps
I've always had mids....just feels right to have my feet under me especially if road conditions are questionable and I want extra feeling of control.....probably a myth. My highway pegs let me stretch if I need to.
I can't use forwards because of knee surgeries because they cause my feet to fall asleep on longer trips. I have to have mids plus the mids give me a better sense of control.
