Is it necessary to use rtv when changing out the exhaust...I did replace the gaskets but forgot to use the rtv...

Negative - exhaust donuts go in "dry." May have to retorque flange nuts after a few miles though.

I don't recall any application for rtv on a bike.

Do not use RTV, if it gets into the O2 sensor it will ruin it. Those cases were assembled at the factory with no gasket. RTV has its uses and advantages but gaskets are required and should not be used, or be eliminated. I never had a exhaust leak or problem using just the gaskets. Just my two cent

no need your good, exhaust RTV (gold) is used on unions like muffler to head pipes but no need off the heads

After I installed them I looked at the directions. ..lol...and itt said something about hi temp silicone....so I thought I would throw the ? Out here

No sealer on exhaust gaskets. I have used Yama-bond on intake gaskets to help form a tight seal because they can be a pain to seal up sometimes

RTV releases acetic acid as it dries which can damage parts. That's why you will not find it in common use on our bikes.
