I have a 2003 FXDX and I want to replace the petcock with a gravity one instead of the factory vacuum. My question is if I go to a Pingle that is gravity fed what do I do with the vacuum line coming off the carb?

Remove vacuum hose and put a rubber cap on the carb nipple so that it doesn't suck in air. If you still have a VOES switch make sure that hose stays connected.

Exactly what I had to do to when I replaced my petcock with a gravity feed.

OK hopefully not a dumb question but I googled VOES kind of understand but the vacuum line from it leads to what exactly?

In simple terms, the HD VOES is an electrical switch that is triggered by manifold vacuum (hence the hose); depending on manifold pressure, the VOES sends a signal to "advance" or "retard" the timing in the ignition control module so that the motor runs efficiently. I had one on my old FXR and only needed to replace it once in the 20 years I had the bike. Not sure when the MoCo stopped installing them, so your 2003 bike may or may not have one. Hope that helps.
