works fine to give your right hand a rest on a long cruise. I did put one of those inexpensive clamp on levers on mine to make it user friendly. The price has increased,I only paid 12 bucks for mine
I use mine to warm up the bike (carb'd) and use it on the road as well. I use to keep it just snug enough that I could let go of the throttle and it would stay but it wore down pretty fast. Not a big deal to replace it though. I still use it to give my hand a rest on long rides.
2001 FXDL w/Keihin CV40 carb. I use it every time I start my bike when it's cold. I never use the choke unless it's about 40F and then I'll leave the choke on for about 10 seconds and then use the throttle lock to warm it up.

Every time I use it, it seems like the throttle sticks unless I turn it a full turn or so out from where it locks the throttle. So I don't see how the lever would work to either hold it or to release it enough as to not be "sticky". I have been thinking about getting the Brake Away model...it's just really pricey.
