I've got that HF one. Bought it one day in a bind while I was mid way through working on my bike... I think I was removing the HD side-mount plate kit--needed to drop the rear wheel so I could get to the turn signal bolts inside the fender. Works fine for me so far. No mods. I drive the front end up onto the sidewalk and lean the jiffy stand on a block to stand up the bike more upright so I can get the lift under the bike. Lowered 2012 Street Bob.
Just got a HF and did the mod with a few washers for spacers and love it. I use tie downs to secure the bike to the lift and I can move it around with no worries. For less than $70 including all the 1/2" grade 8 hardware you can't beat. Just my $0.02 though.
If I purchase the Harbor Freight jack, would I need to do the same modification as described for the Craftsman jack?? I have a 13' Super Glide Custom if that matters...
I just bought my HF a month ago and used the following:
5" x 1/2" grade 8 bolts ---4ea
Nuts for above 1/2" bolts---4ea
1/2" fender washers --- 12ea or 16ea between arm and pads (3 or 4 on each bolt)
1/2" drill bit to open holes up slightly on pad and arm
Also used blue loctite on nuts because they weren't nyloc and you don't want to crank them down

Hopefully getting my jack delivered tomorrow. Why not use the proper metric size bolts instead of 1/2" ones with drilling? Do you know what is the actual size of the original bolts?
Because the bolts that come on the lift aren't long enough to do the mod and 1/2" grade 8 is strong metal. Buy what I listed.
Yes, I do realize the original bolts are not long enough for the mod. Was asking why not just use longer metric size bolts instead of drilling out the holes?
Because you need a slightly wider and stronger bolt to hold the extra load on the pads being put to the outside of the arms. The 1/2" is just slightly larger in diameter than the stock.
I also have an '06 Lowrider. I have the Craftsman jack, with mod. Still have to park the bike with tires and kickstand on some 16 inch pavers just to get the jack underneath. Jack works fine. Just doesn't quite fit where I need it to.
