Ellsworth...that is very strange. When I had my sparto light I unplugged it and the sides still worked as brake lights, did they work as brake lights before?

mine is an 11' and i replaced the sparto with a different LED light. i haven't tested it yet. hopefully there wont be probs. as far as i know it's just 12v system. if it needs to see a load from tail running light, that can be faked with a resistor i think. i may be wrong, someone will correct me and inform me. anyone??
Dyna models switched to CANbus in 2012.

I have assumed that the '12 onwards is canbus, as everyone mentions that 12 onwards has the smaller connectors that don't need to de-pin, and less cables running up through the bars. I have a '14.

Before I did my front turn signal relocation I showed the wiring diagram to my auto-electrician to confirm that the two waiting connectors under the tank would work when wired up to my turn signals in their new spot on the fork tubes. he said that the only way to tell was to plug in a test globe - to see if those connectors had already been programmed by the factory to function that way from the BCM. They did, of course.

But it certainly opened up a can of worms that all changes to function for canbus stuff can only be altered by HD with their ECU programming stuff - as the pervious poster had to do by reprogramming his bike to function as if a super glide.

Just another example of factories locking out tradespeople like auto sparkies from working on more modern bikes.
