Default Forward controlls

Ok I have finally decided(and have the $) to go with some forward controlls. Whats your take? where did you buy yours? I'm looking for a good deal and ones that aren't too long in front. I'm not short (5'11 nekked=)) but i'm not overly long in the leg region. any suggestions comments or other would be appreciated.

20-25% off retail HD prices. a lot of us buy our parts from them - great service, cheap shipping, too.

btw, part #49080-06 is $274.36 (plus shipping), and is $324.95 (plus tax) for retail HD. I've no clue how tough it is to put it on by yourself. I stick to the bolt-on accessories - if it's electrical or chemical (oil), i let the pro's do it.

i have no complaints about the hd forwards. I'm about 5 10"

here's some they claim are nicer quality for less money, you can get these in standard or 2" extended, your choice

Welcome to the forum mate. You should know that in order to properly install the forwards on an 06 dyna you need to remove the inner and outer primary. You'll need a shop manual!

Stock HD forwards are nice units; very easy to install - should work great for your size. (some of us long-legged dudes must extend) Can't beat Zanottis, even w/ a dealer loyalty discount...

I got a usedset for 05 and earlier dynas. You have to make a custom bracket to hold the stock linkage in place on the shift side, and put a cap over the mid shift lever. You also need to lengthen the shift rod. The brake side bolts right up, and you do not have to remove the primary.

Have the forward controls on my FXDL. Had to get a wide glide outer primary cover in order to eliminate the hole in the FXDL outer primary cover. There is a chrome cap which comes with the kit to cover the splined shaft coming out of the cover but I thought it looked fugly being the only protrusion (kind of like a big zit) from the outer primary cover. You need to remove the inner primary to get the old shift stuff out butI was replacing the inner primary with a chrome one anyway.

I just got my new H-D forwards in, and I decided to get my dealer to install mine along with my inner primary since the inner primary has to come off to install them per the instructions on all the 06 models anyway. I would consider myself well above average mechanically inclined but I opted NOT to remove the inner primary myself since my bike is still under warranty and I dont want to give H-D a reason to void my warranty.
