Does anybody know if the dealer enables this feature if there is any chance they could corrupt the current reflashed tune?
Good question. You can enable it yourself with a Power Vision, which is what I did. I'm learning more and more not to trust anyone but myself when it comes to work on my bike. If I had to dyno tune done, I wouldn't want to let the dealer change it without being able to see what they did myself, even if it's just enabling EITMS. I still want to choke the HD tech who "fixed" my fall away at my 5K service. Front end hasn't felt right since, even after 3 more adjustments.
I just did a cam upgrade and the new map Dynojet sent me had EITMS enabled with the on temp set to 284*, which I was unaware of until yesterday.
It kicked on while I was waiting in line to get through the gate yesterday and at first I thought something bad happened to my exhaust. When I blipped the throttle, everything was fine, but then the odd sounding idle would return. It dawned on me that it was EITMS. When I got home last night I checked and there it was in the map, enabled at 284*.
Now that I know what it is, it doesn't bother me.
FWIW, if you plan on idling in traffic a lot, you may want to have it enabled. I doesn't affect the ride at all as far as I can tell.
I have this enabled on my bike and I run the Xieds. It comes on when I am sitting at a light in the middle of black to hell surrounded by tons of hot steel in some really hot temps. I have not notice any benefit to this, it turns off when the engine reasches a certain temp and the cuts off when it drops below a lower temp, back and forth.
If I recall this was originally intended as a "patch" to deal with complaints from FLH riders of excessive heat on their right thigh from the exhaust on 96TC models. They have since rerouted the pipe on the 103's to deal with this. I doubt if it really makes any difference to the motor one way or the other and seems unnecessary on Dynas. I do have it enabled on my machine though just because it is the default setting on the TTS.
