i've tried bypassing this switch by splicing the wires together at the clutch hand control to no avail. does anyone know where i can bypass this assembly altogether at the main terminal?

Bypass should work. Did you try leaving it open circuit?
well, i basically soldered the two wires together. unfortunately, this didn't work, though i'm not sure why. this method has always worked for other bikes i've owned. so i re-attached the assembly and glued the button down. this worked for a while, but the vibes manages to break the button loose. i figure if i just link the two at the source, problem solved.
open circuit? never occurred to me that this could be the answer. just goes against everything i've seen in the past. i'll give it a shot though

Some of these cut outs work by grounding the system so it doesn't fire.
