I had an extra GM 9006 55W Bulb lying around after I put the Blue Lights in my 2K Z/28. So I drilled a large hole about one inch under the stock HD (Blue) Bulb made it a snug, push-infit - after I filed the plastic ring that's in front of the O-Ring. I then, after cleaning out all the plastic / dust out of the lenswired it into the high beam so both bulbs light. It angles up towards the stock bulb and is about a 1/2 inch from it - tip to tip. It is BRIGHT... WAY Bright. I was going to replace the stock headlight housing anyway so I figured if I 'effed it up - no big deal. I added a bead of silicone around the bulb as insurance to keep it in place. Works great - Cheap. Now I want to replace it with a Blue Bulb - and keep the stock light...
It was worth it in my book. I was taking a *test ride* after installing the bulb, and of course at night. I was able to spot a jack rabbit crossing the road long before I got to him.
I finished installing my Silverstar and it is whiter and brighter and only took 15 minutes tops. My estimate is 25% to 50% brighter and a good buy at 20 bucks. The hardest part was finding the little nut that shot across the garage floor when I loosened it too much. I also installed chrome head bolt covers and at 50 bucks, not such a good deal but very cool looking! Those took me 30 minutes to install. Thanks for all the good advice. BB
If you thought that nut was fun to chase. Change your Grips and drop one of your Throttle cable brass ferrels on concrete. It took 10 minute to find mine when I dropped it.
