I'm taking the inverted front end off my 02 WG and ordering a set of factory forks and sliders for $319 each. I can pick up an axle at J&P for around $50.
Problem is the tree's. I don't want to go with the stock WG tree's. I've checked multitudes of web sites and some say the tree's were the same from 2000-2005, and just about everyone on ebay are saying their 41mm tree's fit bikes from 1948-2007.
Anyone have any input on this?
The J&P catalog has a few I like, but when I asked about them, they no longer carry them. They had one set I might buy, but theres a 5 to 6 week ship time.
The retro-fit capability of H-D trees is huge....everything pretty much fits everything else. Just remember that on 39mm forks the WG tress are different and most softails use 41mm forks. But in the range of Evo-TC any tree will fit any frame but you have to have the right fork tubes for the trees.

My 02 came with 41mm forks.
Talked to Howard at MM, and he said my bike came stock with 3 degree tree's.
Talked to another shop that will build me a custom set of 1.5" thick tree's for around $800. He also said they would need a 2.5 to 3 degree rake.
I talked to HD parts dude and a mechanic there and they both told me the stock tree's had zero rake.
This is getting crazy. I might just order a ugly set of factory tree's and not worry about fitment or the damn rake.
Never dreamed it would be so hard to change out a front end.
I have an '03 wide glide and I am pretty sure there was 3 degrees of rake in the trees, I know this because I installed HD fat triple trees and noticed a loss in the rake on my front end, found out later that the new trees had 0 rake. I am looking to make a change to get that rake back and might just go with some custom work to the neck as I am envious of the rake on the new wide glides but really want to keep the trees I have now because I love their look. Sometimes I hate myself for being so ****...
