Default Change tires?

All the dealerships(and independents, they were more expensive actually) want $150 to change out my tires. I've got the tires, and these shops are booked till next month. So how hard is it and what sort of equipment do I need? I'm guessing less than 150 worth.

I changed mine on a 2009 road king. Not very hard. Harley uses sealed bearings on the wheels so no need to replace or grease. I saved about 200-300 dollars in labor cost and tires. I have never done it before so was scared to attempt it. I rode 200 miles to Laughlin and 200 miles back home on my new tires. I must of done it right because I made it home with both wheels still on the bike .

Check out a local indy shop. We have one that does tires for $30 each.

Its really easy. Go to harbor freight and buy a beadbreaker, Go to your local motorcycle accessory shop and by rim protectors and good tire tools (3 of them). Go to youtube and learn how to do it. Buy dynabeads for balancing. And then Never pay to have a tire changed again. Obviously a lift helps, but you can get by with a jack.

Your local Sportbike dealer may be able to assist you as well.

I go to a local honda dealer and pay 70 bucks, thats with the tire on the bike not just bringing in the wheel. For that price I'm good with paying someone else to do it.

buy a jack and 2 new tires then take the wheels off and bring them to an Indy. I just called mine and he said it will take him about 10 minutes to switch out a tire on a tubeless cast wheel. Check with them, your apt to get faster service if you just bring in your wheels
