Default Need help . . Fuel gauge pegged on empty

I am hoping to get some insight and answers on my problem. Here goes:

I have an 07 Superglide. Last time I rode it a few weeks ago, everything was fine. Started it up today and found the fuel gauge pegged below empty and the low fuel light was on. The bike seemed to run fine, everything else worked so I figured maybe just a stuck float on the sending unit. I went for a ride and it stalled once and then when I stopped to visit a friend, it would not start. No electric at all anywhere. I discovered that a battery connection was loose because I am over careful tightening the cables into soft lead threads. So, I tightened it up and the bike started right up and ran great. BUT, . . . the gauge is still pegged below empty and the low fuel light is still on. The tank is full

What do you all think. Does the gauge need time to re-set itself after the flakey battery connection or is there truly a separate fuel gauge/light problem?

Any thoughts are appreciated

Ed

your fuel gauge problem is a separate issue

Possible low voltage took out a fuse? Power is coming from the ignition switch for gage. Make sure plug connections are good at ignition switch, wire going into the tank and the led indicator light connection.

Clean and tighten your battery cables, not just a "tug" test: remove them and clean and retighten. Post back after that

Default Fixed it !

Well first I went back and made sure that the battery connections were really tight. They were but the gauge stayed on empty. Then I suspected the chrome Kuriyakin neck cover I put on about a year ago. I remembered that it pressed really hard on the wires where they all come out of the hole in the neck. Sure enough that was it. It was squeezing the crap out of the wires and had pinched/shorted them out. I bent the chrome neck cover so that there is no more pressure and all is well in Harley Land again
