Did you have the cables expanded instead of collapsed? Posting mistakes helps others learn.
I agree. Your dumbass move might save someone else from making the same dumbass move. We've all had dumbass moments...I know I sure have! So come on, let us in on the brain fart.
yes I had them expanded instead of collapsed..haha...turning them to the left made sense to me thinking I had all of the slack out...so there it is..but that's why I like to do all my work so I can learn from it...thanks again guys
Right on you live and learn, trust me when I say I've made way worse dumbass moves than that and will again. That's the fun part about working on these damn things, doing everything a second time.

At least you got it figured out. Yes, we all have those stupid moments. Hell, I did it about a month ago. I bought a custom hardtail that was 5 hours from home. Me and the wife drove up to get it, and I rode it home. Got about 10 minutes from home and the damn thing died on me. It had been giving me trouble all the way home...it's a 2004 model with less than 3,000 miles on it, so it sat a lot. I was on the side of a road with hardly any shoulder, and I was pissed. I was looking at everything, and ended up pushing it about a mile to a place where I could get it off the road and work on it some. Spent about 15 minutes checking stuff, and cussing, and was about ready to leave it and say the hell with it. Decided to remove the gas caps and check the fuel. Sure enough it was almost out. Switched it to reserve......fired right up. Needless to say, I felt like a tool. This is only my second carbed bike in my life...so I was not used to having a reserve to use. But thank goodness I did. It was midnight, and nobody was open around me. So don't feel bad...we all have our moments.
Good work. It can be confusing, especially the first time. The service manual is a real help, but I like to watch Michael Durham do these type of things on youtube it has made it easier for me.
