Definitely don't cut off the disconnected shifter arm after you install the forwards. Kuryakyn sells a small clip that holds the now unused shifter arm in place. It will never be in the way and allows you to go back to mids, or in the future, sell the bike to someone with a preference for one over the other.

This is the best photo I have at the present. I can take a better one later next week.
I am picking up my bike from my builder then.

Some big custom builders prefer these;
http://www.jbrake.com/forwardcontrol...ic_radial.html
And there are 2 3/8ths more forward than Harley forward controls.
Also look better being machined from billet aluminum here in America.

Does the Kury brand require removal of the primary cover?

Removal of the primary is only needed if you want to remove the shifter spline that passes through the primary in one piece. You could use a hacksaw blade or sawzall to cut it off behind the primary and then pull it out. However,there is no need to remove it at all, regardless of what all the installation instructions state. Just fastenen the arm so it doesn't rattle and leave it there.

Thank you for the info, my harley shop wants $600 HD forwards and labor to do it. Really don't want to spend that much if I can do it myself for just the cost of the forwards
