My speedo died the other day which I think is very strange! No MPH it sits at 0, no miles show, no lights inside the speedo at all... Neutral light, blinker lights, oil light all work just nothing inside the speedo!
I unplugged the speedo and turn the key on the neutral lights blinker lights all do not come on so I'm thinking its getting power!
I removed the speed sensor and it looked new but I did clean it anyway and replaced...
Cleaned all the connections I could find....
Could it be the speedo itself?
I just had the ECM replaced 2 weeks ago at the local dealer the speedo worked till now after that, could it be something with the ECM?
You didn't say what year and model. The newer bikes store the info of the speedometer in the ECM. So if the ECM was replaced bring it back to the dealer and tell them they never transfered the info...hopefully they still have the old ECM
I know on a Sporty (and im sure my 2010 Fatbob) you can test the needle works. I think, switch in run position, hold oddometer button in on side of speedo and turn on with key whilst holding button. Needle should flip to max and then back. Turn off ign and all will be reset.
Anyone back me up with this?
My GF's speed sensor is playing up on her 09 Sporty too and when it does, the indicators won't self cancel. Hope this helps.
