I only have 24K on the bike but the adjustement screw (inside the derby cover) has only a few threads left so I guess it is time for a new clutch.
Is there a Pawl Adjustment on a 2003? I have seen some places that say "NO".
Do I get a "clutch pack" or just the plates? I do not ride the bike hard and am wondering why I need a cluch so soon but will do the work myself since I don't trust the kids at the dealer.
I know that I need a clutch compression tool, do I also need a special tool for the chain in the primary or anytihng like that to do this job?
???? Clutch compression tool? Not for a TC88A. I have an '04 FXDP & tried to replace the clutch recently. You just release the tension bolts in star pattern a bit at a time to release the steel/friction material plates. No tool required for the primary chain. It's easy. If you're careful, won't even have to replace the outer primary gasket. I've opened my clutch 3 times in last couple months & still using same gasket.
Unless you replace the diaphram spring, the plates are all you need. Some clutch sellers say to always replace the spring when replace the clutch plates. At your milage, it seems unlikely the spring is worn out. Be careful about replacing the two inner springs (judder spring & spacer) if you use a HD replacement clutch. Most aftermarket clutches don't use them so they can be removed/saved. Obviously, replace primary lube.
Just a bit of advice from my experience if you haven't purchased the clutch. Steer clear of Energy One clutches. Garbage IMHO. I installed one on a stock TC88 & it slipped like crazy. Had to install a heavy spring to get it to hold. Eventually removed/threw it in the trash & re-installed the original HD clutch & spring. Still workz OK after 60K mi. For a while anyway.
Oh BTW, no pawl adjustment on TC88. If the spring breaks, just have to dismantle the tranny & replace it.
Unless your hotrodding or your clutch is slipping then you're clutch should still be good.

The best tool you can have working on your Dyna is a H-D Dyna service manual(99481-03). It is a smart investment for the man that does his own work. ebay haz em.
+1 on the service manual, many times there is bad information posted here but with good intentions. When replacing your clutch plates you should also soak them in oil prior for about ten minutes, then wipe off excess prior to installation. Can almost bet there is a video on this some where on the net.
