Default 2013 FatBob rear shock recommendation

Ok, so Im actually ok with the feel of the rear shocks from the factory. I do love the look of the springs though, not the bright shiny chrome covered ones I have.

I want to stay stock length but I want black shocks. If they give me a better ride then thats just a bonus. I weigh 155lbs without gear and I rarely put anyone on the back, so HD shocks arent necessary.

I dont really know brands(if there are any) or where the best place to shop for them are.

Anyone with experience with upgraded shocks I would appreciate it. Also, if its really worth it. I mean, I can always just spray the chrome away with plasti-dip.

If all you really care about is looks...then pick up some progressive black shocks. Check the classifieds and just get them used.

Yeah, pretty much thats it. So any brand in particular or are they all the same? Also, what length are my stock shocks?

I just gave you the brand name and my stock shocks were 12" on my superglide.
You don't have a tape measure?

I appreciate your quick replies, however there was no need to be snappy. I didnt know there was a brand called progressive. When I think shocks, the word progressive typically means the rate of compression. Im new to the Harley world of items.

Regarding the length, the bike is at home with my tape measure while Im here at work. I called home but the bike wouldnt pick up the phone for some reason. It's much easier to order parts while at work when you have the information at hand.

fornules, progressive, ohlins, theres a lot out there ,also do a internet search regarding bike shocks, all depends how much you want to spend, Or find a good bike suspension shop and they will be able too help custom assemble a shock too suit want you want by your weight/dampening
most shops should have your bike listed eg( eye too eye measurment

Progressive 12s or even 11s would be what you would be looking for. Heres what they are.

Thank you, this is what I was looking for. I dont know places to shop for this bike and when I put stuff into google, nothing comes up. I found DennisKirk also. Where else should I look for parts?

What is the difference between the shock models: 412, 430, 444 etc?

JP is good, DK like you found, Directcycle parts. Theres a ton out there. You kind of learn as you go. As far as the difference in part# I would look on the manufactures web site. They may be spring rate differences.

A lot of people seem to forget that people have to start somewhere. Not everyone knows HD and where to get things or things to look out for. The good old google it replies are the ones I love. If I found my answer on google 9 chances out of 10 I would not be posting asking for help and recommendations. Google cant tell you peoples experience with parts either.
