Switchback Regret?
i have a 2013 fld and love it im 5,9 190 it fits me just fine i like it because it looks a lot like the old FLH fuel moto just hooked me up with a stage one kit with dual exhaust i cant wait to fire it up
I'm very happy with mine. I thought I wanted to upgrade to a Streetglide for awhile until I actually spent some time behind the controls of my dads FLHX... I am however I firm believer that no matter what bike you get, you need to make it your own. Period.
I am 6'1 225 and wasn't truly happy with my FLD until I swapped the bars and changed the seat. Now I can stretch out and straighten my legs for a nice comfortable ride. I'v "made it my own" fitting it to what I feel to be comfortable.
In all honesty I could have gotten away with a RK and been just as happy. However the RK in its stock form looks like complete sh*t IMO. If I wanted a bike that looked like it came straight out of the 1980's, then I would have bought a RK.
However when I knew I wanted a new Harley I knew I wanted something with hard lockable bags, a removable windshield and was going to still be light enough not to feel like a tank and still have strong power for two up riding. Radio would have been nice but it was never high enough on my list to justify something different.
I would have been just as happy with a touring model. however its nice to see a bike that doesn't look like

I just bought a 2014 FLD yesterday and I have two questions for you...
#1 Where did you get your pipes? I love them!
#2 Does the Mach II stick out further than the stock A/C? Does it get in the way at all?
Thanks! And love your ride!
My 2012 FLD is now one of them for sale at the dealership where
I traded it in on a 2014 FLS. I put 15,000 on the FLD or so very
enjoyable miles with no buyers remorse at any time what so ever.
Whatever contraband I made need to carry will fit in a bag on my
rear fender rack attached to a Bowman sissy bar that's on it's way.
I my case once again it was just love at first sight with the FLS.

For some damn reason, I kept trying to find fault with my purchase of the switchback, I did it for over 2 years... on here too.
Truth became apparent to me after riding numerous other models to replace it with. The switchback is a fine bike and once I got my legs stretched out, fit me fine. Still hate the bags (always will) but some day I'll just kick holes in em and use the hardware for better ones and be done with that too.
There wasn't one touring bike that I tried that I liked, there wasn't one softail that I liked better overall. definitely saw ones that looked better but didn't like the ride.
there it is
sure would like to add an old school panhead though...hehe (George, that pic you sent me still calls me, lol) I wouldn't replace the switchy to do it though, just add it for a bar hopper and to attend shows with for ***** and grins.

I only got my 2012 FLD a couple weeks ago, traded in my 07 Low Rider for it. I do believe it's more nimble, I like the 103 a lot. I did the $5 vibration fix last night in just a couple minutes, I think we are going to get along just fine. Why I know it's mine, just like a pocket knife, the first night, I ran my finger along the rear jug rocker gasket (where the low rider leaked once) and cut my finger pretty good. Sealed the deal. LOL

Here in SoCal, Dynas at dealers are hard to find new or used. People rarely get rid of them. Having said that, there are a lot of used Switchbacks at dealers and we see mostly the ladies on them. The Switchback bags give them the perfect size to hold a purse and tampons.
