I agree that if you want very fast and rideable, its probably not a Harley. Some of us have been there.
I went away from really fast after noticing that I couldnt stop twisting the throttle. I knew it was just a matter of time before I got a huge ticket or huge wreck.
Some people here have changed sprockets to get more acceleration. I think a simple change like that might be enough to give you little more sensation of acceleration. You could also do some engine work.
It wont be super fast, but it wont really matter. How often are you really able to go over a 80 or so safely, any way?
Came from a cbr600rr fun bike I actually had two. I had a 2003 and then a 2008 loved them both but grew out of that stage and knew this bikes belonged on the track not the street. They were fun but I did not ride them too much just not practical for the street. Plus I enjoy the torque which the 600's lack big time.
You have great taste in bikes. My previous bike was a Speed Triple and I loved it so much, that I couldn't part with it. I like my Harley but the S3 is a bike that is just ***** out fun to ride and does everything well. Build quality is top notch, had the bike for over 10years and haven't had jack go wrong with it...unlike my Harley...
Another avenue. Yamaha is delivering the 2014 FZ-09 this fall. 850cc triple, 115HP, 65ftlb tq, 414lbs wet and $7990 price tag. Keep the WG and add one of these to the garage. It's almost a Speed Triple and costs thousands less. Keeping my Dyna and hopefully adding one of these by year's end...BTW it sits like a supermoto, not a sportbike...tp
I'm coming from a 2007 Buell Firebolt and I pretty much wanted the opposite. After a year of riding the 'Bolt, I was tired of having an aching back after a 45-60 minute ride. I'll admit, the bike was a TON of fun in the twisties and handled like it was on rails, but comfort became more important to me. The 2013 Fat Bob I got was a natural step for me, it handles really well and has plenty of power for me. If in the future I miss the handling of a sportbike, I'm going to look for another Buell to add to the garage since they are cheap now.
