Do you have a pic of the updated tranny case with the dowels you are mentioning. Ive had my primary open to do forwards but never payed attention to these dowels you speak of. I have 3600 miles on 06 sb and starting to hear noises from primary. Bike was built 12-05. Would i have updated parts or too early in the run?

Just checked mine, February 2006. 10000 miles and no problems so far (fingers crossed). of course i'm constantly paying way too much attention to every little noise I hear coming from the primary side.
....THIS IS IMPORTANT INFO FOR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT I AM ATTEMPTING TO BRING FORWARD.
Good for you for trying, but the MOCO turns a blind eye to the handling problem ("death wobble"), a safety issue, of its rubber mounted bikes. Do you really think you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting anywhere with a lawsuit for a mechanical issue on an '06 model?

Why not? Someone files a lawsuit, and the other party has to respond, or they lose by default. They can't just ignore it.

I found out last week that bringing a class action suit is not going to happen. There just aren't enough documented cases. 2006 was one of the.. if not the biggest selling year for Harley and they sold approx 70,000 dyna's and there are only a few hundred documented cases of IPB failure and even less stator/rotor failures.
Its also a 7 year old bike which is the biggest reason nothing can be done.
Oh well.. I am going to ride it and enjoy it until something happens and when it does I will deal with it then. I have a road side assistance program with Allstate.

Great plan. I have gone through the IPB case swap and the time invloved in giving up my bike while it's being fixed. But that has in no way soured my opinion about the bike I own. I could any time I want go the dealer and buy any bike they have in there but I don't, because I really like the bike I have now. I'm sure you'll really enjoy the time you spend on yours and if you have to deal with any issues you can worry about it then. Ride safe.
I've only had my 06 bob(built in 01/06) for a few months it has about 58,000 miles and runs great. The only mechanical problem I've had is the IPB I just had it replaced. The rotor is a two piece. The shop that did the work for me said that everything but the bearing was in good shape so they just put loctite on the rotor bolts and put it all back together. I did have the baker high torque bearing put in only because I don't know the service history of the bike and this could've been the first one or the tenth, so I played it safe.
There was a recall issued for the 2006 tranny it was for a "false neutral" which is a safety issue and that is the only time any manufacturer is required to issue a recall. Just think back to the toyota brake recall it had to become national news before toyota even acknowlaged it.
I really like my bike and have no problem with hopping on it just rideing for as long as I want.
