That's what I thought but considering his bike was manufactured in September of 2005 I want to make sure. It also brings up another question... when exactly did Harley start putting the 2007 parts in the 2006 Dyna's?
change to the SE compensator sprocket
The benefits will out weigh the cost.
It really isn't a cost but more of a investment.
I understand you are looking for those that have not had any issues.
I went to the se on my 07 and it was a big difference. Better charging, no more kick back, starter does not kick out and quieter.
I removed my sticker and have it stashed away somewhere, I only remember that it was built on either 02/2006 or 03/2006.

This thread is just a recipe for disaster.........just saying....
I'm afraid so too. I just picked up my 06 from the independent shop an hour ago. Guess what? The compensator screws had come out and trashed the stator. Surprise surprise. While it was apart, he checked the inner primary bearing. It was really knarley looking with chunks of metal missing from the surface of the inner race, so that was replaced too.
Everything worked perfectly for 11,000 miles before that, and I had no warning whatsoever that anything was going wrong. I was darned lucky though. The bike happened to break down 200 feet from that shop, and the shop happened to be open. Didn't get stranded in the middle of nowhere, and didn't need to get towed. Doesn't get much better than that. You may not be so lucky.

It won't be a disaster for Harley. They just need to finally acknowledge the IPB and the stator/rotor issues and step up and issue a recall for all 2006 Dyna owners who own bikes prior to when the factory started installing the upgraded 2007 inner primary housing, transmission case and stator/rotor assembly.
From what I was told by Ann who is the person I spoke to when I called the factory at 414-343-4056, there are NO issues with the 2006 Dyna models and they will take every issue on a case by case and bike by bike basis. They don't recognize or acknowledge any problems with the 2006 Dyna models and therefore no recalls were ever issued. I asked about the IPB Pink letter and she told me that they issued it and then rescinded it because it was a non issue and not enough bikes came back with problems. Funny... the same time they rescinded the pink letter they started installing the new improved inner primary and transmission housings that include the 2 locating dowels that were missing in the early 2006 models. This is an absolute admission of a problem that the factory acknowledged.
