I have seen hundreds of threads regarding the infamous Stator/Rotor/Compensator cup screws issue and the staggeringly popular IPB issues. What I haven't seen is a thread that lists all the 2006 Dyna's that have experienced NO PROBLEMS with either of these issues. According to Ann at Harley Davidson Corporate... they aren't aware of either of these issues, nor will they address them because they respond to issues on a case by case basis after you break down. Its not like the car industry.. when you own a Harley that has known manufacturing defects they wait until you are stuck in bumfu$@##k Idaho at 2 in the morning with your wife on the back in a rain storm before they will even respond to you. The car manufacturers have a recall and take care of the problems PRIOR to them occurring but since Harley Davidson doesn't think there are any problems with the 2006 Dyna's that's that. Yea MOCO. Anyway.... how many 2006 Dyna owners here aren't having any problems and how many miles do you have on your bike? Apparently Harley figured out they screwed up late in 2006 so most of the late 2006 models have all the upgraded 2007 parts on them.
PLEASE INCLUDE THE MONTH YOUR BIKE WAS MANUFACTURED IN YOUR RESPONSE. YOU CAN FIND IT ON YOUR FRAME WHERE THE STICKER IS NEAR YOUR VIN NUMBER. THIS IS IMPORTANT INFO FOR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT I AM ATTEMPTING TO BRING FORWARD.
I'll start. I have a dragonfly green/vivid pearl custom order Wide Glide that was offered from January through March only of 2006. I have 6500 miles on my bike and so far its perfect with no issues. I am saving up the money to get it repaired properly while I make my loan payments to HD for the next 5 years.
I have an 06 FXDBI bought new with 28k now with the only issue being a front brake light switch replaced under warranty. May 06 build date. Love the bike and plan to keep it indefinitely!
Mine was built February 06. I heard that mid year they started making them with the upgraded 2007 parts. I wonder why they would do that if there were no problems with the 2006 parts?
I think the manufactures only recall safety issues that they can be held responsible for. I've had three problems with mine; speedometer crapped out, original battery died within six months, inner primary bearing at 6100 miles.
I started getting a knocking sound on cold start up and thought that was the stator issue, so I ordered the Screamin Eagle compensator / stator kit. When I opened it up I found no issues with the original stator assembly, turned out to be a loose upper engine mount bracket. I'm now at 32,000 miles, overall I'm pretty happy.

I have had zero issues regarding the IPD and Stator. The only issue I have had to date has been an injector wire that caused some miss firings, of which the MoCo replaced out of warranty, no charge.
2006 FXDBI, manufactured Sep. 2005., 26000 miles to date.
