Help/Advise needed to put 5" Speedo/Tach on 2013 Street Bob
Dyna Glide ModelsSuper Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide Custom, Dyna Glide Convertible, Super Glide T-Sport, Dyna Glide Police, Dyna Switchback, Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Wide Glide.
I`m looking at page 7-50 and it looks like it`s a simple swap. There might be a sticky thread that may have the instructions.
I hope someone that has done this will chime in.
I'm afraid that it's more complicated than that. These new bikes talk to the spedo thru communication link. So the comm system of the new spedo has to match the comm system of the bike.
Right, and in the "notes" section on page 7-51 it states if you replace with new, after 31 mile test run, the old mileage locked in the ECM will be transferred to the new speedo.

And if the comm systems aren't compatible in the fist place, not only will this transfer not take place. But the spedo will not even work to begin with. Even if the comm systems are compatible, the plug configurations most likely will not be.

I`m confused. So are you saying a stock 2013 speedo won`t be compatible with a OEM speedo/tach combo from HD on their parts website?
Why would the plug configurations be different?
There are about 5 different units on their website. Why not just call the parts dpt. and ask which speedo/ tach unit replaces the stock one for a 2013 Street Bob, 96 ci or 103 ci.?

The spedo alteration suggested by the OP doesn't match ( as stated by the OE parts description ). The OP asked if he could make it work. I was just simply stating possibilities why it "may not". So, if he could overcome the size differance, he would still have these other two issues to deal with. I personally have no idea if the comm systems match. And / or if the plugs match. Kind of a big investment to find out one or the other didn't.
