I have heard that the stock wiring has enough slack to go to 2 inch higher bars but I am unsure about whether or not the stock wiring will work if I change my bars from the stock drag bars on my wide glide to the road six customs 8 inch apes. I know that the stock bars are about 6 inches tall at the grips so I am within that 2 inch window but am concerned because it looks like it is more of a straight shot from the control housings with the stock bars than with the apes. Has anyone swapped to 8 inch apes from the stock bars and used the stock wiring? If not how involved is it to install new wiring?

As long as you stay 2" risers and below, you will have zero problem all the way up till 10s. After that, the cables need to be re routed and are still close...Those 10s will be no issue. I have 1.5" risers and 10" minis and can fit 12s if I do some real creative rerouting...

Im in 7 EMS.
By the way thanks everyone for the replies.
I am active duty AF as well...Do you know a TSgt David Camacho? I have a set of 10" mini apes you can have for a GREAT price if you want them...They are Wild One 610s...I have the risers too...The whole set up will bolt straight on without cable changes or extending the wires...
