Hutch08. On my T-Sport I wrecked it had 11.5 with 16" MX Tbars, an gauges ran up top. Looked about the same as tall bars with Quarter fairing. On my current Sport I have 8" risers with 2" rise bars. 11.5" and it is fully blacked out.
One thing to remember, if u run tall tbars/bar riser combo u may have to look over or around them while riding anyways depending on ur height so the taller shield in black may not distract you to much. That black fairing I posted on here about a month ago has the blacked out 14.5 (ran with 14" tbars). The guy I did it for is not to tall. He has been cross the country already n said it didn't really affect his vision at all.
Also buffeting could be combo of shield and helmet. Tried out my buddies Bandit a few weeks back and my head was dancing all over the place. Got to remember you got 2 different kinds of aerodynamics goin there. So they could be conflicting.
Yeah lefty, I totally agree. My plan is to run 9" risers with a moto bar for a total of 12" rise.
You're probably right about the helmet, these Simpson Bandits aren't the most aerodynamic out there. ... and is probably majority of the problem. I love it though and don't plan on getting rid of it.
I find if I tuck down a bit it stops, that's why I think the extra 14" might work. Besides with the 11.5 I'm back to bug guts splattered on my shield.
I'll probably order the 14"... I can always paint my chopped shield as well.
I rode to work today with the fxdxt fairing installed, I LOVE it....no buffeting, the wind coming up the bottom is no where near as bad as the rifle.
Looks dope, seen that on your IG... Bars I'll be running right way will have 10" of total rise but the gauges will be on the top clamp still so it should just tuck behind them.
Eventually I'll be getting Forbidden MC's 9" risers with a set of Pro Taper mini high's. That'll be around 12" of rise, but the gauges will be mounted down low with an Accutronix gauge mount.... So it should look perfect with that too.
Did you have the shield pulled in, or rocked out all the way?
Any issues visibility wise, to make you wish you had the smoke instead of black?

Did you have the shield pulled in, or rocked out all the way? it was in, gonna push it out on the way home.
Any issues visibility wise, to make you wish you had the smoke instead of black? No I thought it was too tall last night when I installed the fairing but riding it was perfect to look over im 5'8" tall
bobber that looks badass. I ordered the same one a few days ago. I have no buffetting now. Hope it stays that way.
You've ordered a 14.5" opaque black too?
I just got off the phone to place my order, my only concern now is the durability of the black.
He recommended going with the dark grey as it's a better material and actually aircraft grade, where as the opaque black is not.
I've never seen a complaint about it scratching easy though.
I'm assuming as long as your careful cleaning it by using a soft towel or microfiber I'm sure it'll be fine... As for visibility, I'll be able to look over it and my bars will block it anyways.
I'm 5'10" so looking over shouldn't be a problem... I got them to expedite the shipping, so hopefully it doesn't take too long.
Hutch08. Thats funny, I didn't even see that you run a Simpson til I was reading back over right now. It was just by chance that I mentioned it.
The actual black color holds up perfect. If you get scratches or chips they just present in the overall gloss. Not any loss of black.
07Bobber. That looks killer. Your bike has really come together.
Another nice thing about this fairing is that it blocks allot of wind off your legs and knees as well. You guys will trip when you ride in the rain. Even when your in a pack keeps allot of the rain off your knees and legs.
