Hello all.. so when I got my FXDB it came with a quick release compact windshield..I did not love the protection if gave me so I upgraded to the Quick Release Touring Windshield
Well I find it a bit better I still have some issues and wondering others thoughts
When I ride with the Quick Release Touring Windshield I find i still get a strong breze on my uper body ..it actualy pushes my shirt up and gets tight around my neck ..I have tryed raising and lowering it but not much change is it normal to get wind to your upper chest with this windshield ? Is it a combo of how I sit or how far I am from the windshield
Any thoughts on how to change this
Thanks ~
On my fxd I adjusted the qd all the way down and back in the mounts and don't get enough to be bothered. I have the compact WS & 29° rake and run it about 1/2 in. from lower tree. With a full face helmet I need to run it about 1in higher to stop buffeting
at 65 with no windshield my helmet is almost coming off my head .. NO problems with the windshield to head ..Its mainly my upper chest ..like I said my shirt rides up an its choking me
Usual problem with these screens. They are like a barn in the wind flow and the air swirls under and around it. Many complaints over the years of making your head shake to bits.
Seems these shields are OK as long as you only ever ride at lower speeds. Take it to 70 and you suffer.
Lots of ideas been suggested to fix, such as lowering and tilting. None are fully effective.
You can either live with the buffeting or else do what many do and find something different in terms of flyscreens, batwings, or just go naked.
Most of that air is coming from below the shield antman. try a small tool bag or fork bag below the headlight level where you can see there is no protection whatsoever.
