So the numbers for the two local dealers are in. The 2013 "deal" isn't a whole lot better than the 2014 numbers. The other local dealer offered me $5500 for my 2012 Nightster. Hah!
I have calls in to 4 other dealers within a few hundred miles as well as Orlando HD. So far, those numbers are way better. One dealer has already offered me $7500 for my Nightster sight unseen.
So at this point, it looks like there's no real reason for me to consider this local 2013. However, I am checking with these other dealers to see if they have 2013's they're trying to get rid of.
I love this forum. You guys are f'n awesome. Dealing over the phone/internet so far has been a whole hell of a lot better than these local folks.
Yea even if you have to travel a little bit, who cares right? I got lucky and the dealership 3 minutes from my house cut me the deal of a lifetime (I think, and hope) They offered me $7250 on my 2011 Iron 883 and never even looked at it. **** could have been all messed up, I guess they had faith.
Good luck with your search and your doing the right thing by putting one dealer against another. Get some written offers and take them to the local place and tell them to match or else you will go buy elsewhere. They should take care of it but they might not. Good luck!
Congrats man, good luck on getting a great deal. I bought my '12 right about this time last year and I was able to get it for 12k with some upgrades and a free service. Just gotta know when to say yes, and when to say no.
Can't wait to see what you pick!
I'm in Memphis, but I'm not against dealing with another dealer even if I had to drive. The family might enjoy a mini-vacation to Orlando. That's a 12h drive though.
I've never dealt with any vehicle dealer over the phone or Internet. I wonder how that works.
Are you dealing with those guys from Bumpus? Had a bad experence with those there, worked out in the end after 5 plus hours of BS and $25.00 my way. Tried to do the same with my trade in. Try Abernathy HD in Union City ask for Danny. Right now they've got a sweet looking 11 SB with 733 miles spoke wheels some other upgrades. I know this bike has been on the floor for sometime I almost bought it instead of my current SB.

Yeah, Bumpus is who offered me $5500. I checked Abernathy for a black 2014, but they don't have one. I'll see what else they have. Maybe I could work a deal on a different color.

Thanks!
LOL, they thought I had an Iron 883 when they offered the $5.5k. After they saw my Nightster they offered $7.7k, which is much closer to what it's worth.
Just keep working them until you get diminishing returns on your effort. I made a spreadsheet with offers from four different shops. Orlando had the best deal and was really easy to deal with, but my local dealer finally matched it and threw in accessory discounts, and free labor on some of my upgrades. I was up-front with Manny at Orlando HD and he was totally cool about it.
These guys all know that the profits come from parts, accessories, and service/labor. The good salesmen know that making a buyer happy creates return visits. Hell, I buy stuff from Orlando HD any time I'm in the area, all because they make me feel like I'm a valued customer.

They do have a 2013 in black. Gonna see what kind of deal they're prepared to make.

I talked to Orlando H-D. Manny went to another dealer, but they're working on a quote for me.
... oh and I forgot about the $690 doc fee and the freight charge that was $105 more than the standard $390... ugh, it's making sick just thinking about how much they wanted to screw me.
Yea, I started with Bumphus HD in Murfreesboro (just outside of Nashville), they wouldn't move off MSRP and lowballed me on trade in. They had a 299.00 DOC Fee (699.00 sounds way to high), but dropped freight and setup. I ended up buying from a Nashville Dealer....they came off the MSRP 1800.00 (the new ones were starting to come in), no freight or setup and 99.00 DOC Fee w/4.99% non HD financing. Ended up selling my "trade in" on Craigslist 6 weeks later. If you think your gonna keep it for awhile, buy the 2013. Good luck......
I tell you what. Having the dealers fight over the deal makes a big difference.
So far...
Nobody other than Southern Thunder HD has given me 2013 prices yet.
Columbia HD outside of Nashville sold their last 2013. Their willing to give me a 2014 for $500 off MSRP, 20% off $1500 worth of parts/accessories, and give me $8000 for my Nightster for $7650 out the door.
Bumpus called right after I got off the phone. They found a black one. I told them what Columbia was offering and they were all like "I don't know where they're getting their numbers. I can't sell you this bike for that. Blah Blah Blah. Let me talk to my sales manager." LOL
