Unhappy Runnning Rough

Hi guys,

Last week or so I've had some difficulty with starts while the engine is still hot, new battery last month, starts fine cold. Now today while cruising in 5th, intermittent multiple backfires then lunges. Then died at a stoplight. Any insight before I get it to the Dealer? Help would be appreciated.

2009 Stock FXD only 7500 miles
Thanks, John

Default No One?

No comments at all? I've checked the battery cables plugs/coil wiring, changed the air filter. Hoping it's not the Stator.

You don't say if it cranks, or if it cranks but does not start? hard to comment when no info. What is batt voltage?

Does your bike happen to be under warranty? If you have checked all the obvious things which it sounds like you have then I would take it in.

Not under warranty, bike restarted after it died... ran 2 miles home, pop and sputtered again while accelerating (not on decell). Started it up a while ago, idles fine, revved up fine. gonna test ride it a bit in a while. Don/t have a meter handy...

Doyou have a power comander? If so take it out of the loop and see if the problem goes away. Happened to my bike with similar syptoms.

Have you checked for codes? These bikes are so loaded down with sensors and electronics that if something goes wrong trouble codes are logged. These codes if any, will really make it much easier to diagnose and fix the problem.

I had a similar issue on my 07 super glide and it ended up being a bad hose/o-ring on the fuel pump inside the tank. I hear its a common issue on these bikes.

In response to a two points, as stated in the OP bike is Stock. No code indicated by the security "Key" light.

Have an Indy coming to check it out tomorrow. Also installing fresh plugs and SS Fat Wires.
