I commute to work daily and get 38-40 city.
On long trips i usually get 43 - 47 highway.
I use the mileage to monitor how well the bike is running. IF i see a huge fluctuation between fill ups it might me a sign there is something wrong.

I get about 43 on the highway and about 38-39 in town.
I have a Big Sucker II, Samson BG3 Pamonas and a Cobra Fi2000.
(Pretty confident about the 43 highway: just did a 1300 mile round trip over Labor Day)

I know some folks get all wrapped up in stats...mpg, torque, horse power, etc...like this, and that ain't a bad thing, but I ain't one...If it don't sound right, don't look right, or don't feel right, then I fix it, and when it needs gas, I fill it up...otherwise "I don't want a pickle, I just wanna ride my motorcycle." ~Arlo Guthrie
