Mine is a 99 FXD and had SE-204 cams, Thunderslide kit in the carb, Hypercharger, VH Short Shots, SE Plugs and wires and will go consistently 155-170 miles before reserve. I think that's 3.5 gals so averages 44-48 MPG and that's riding it while having fun but no highway trips....25 mile one way trip to work...and I never hit reverve when the baggers I rode with had to stop for gas....now I am one of those baggers getting gas!
Now it is going down for SE Hi-comp 95" with MLS HG and possible ported heads.

Had an '05 Heritage Classic w Stage 1, and it got mid upper 40's. Occasionally 50-52mpg on the highway. My '11 FXDC gets 40mpg, regardless of where or how I ride.
I got the stock 88, with Vance and Hines big shot staggered and the Arlen Ness big sucker stage 1.
I get roughly 42 mpg...I'm hoping after this winter I can get more; after cleaning my throttle body and intake...they look like they've never been cleaned.

My 09 FXDC gets 40-45 in mixed town / highway riding. With a 5 gallon tank I can pretty well rely on
about a 170 mile range worst case and normally get over 200. At times the mileage remaining estimate
on the trip computer shows 240 or so after having ridden 20-30 miles, but I'd never try to ride it that
far as gas stations out here can be few and far between on a lot of secondary routes.
Unlike some who just ride bar-to-bar and make stupid comments, a lot of us ride real distances and
mileage is a factor..
