So I was trying to figure math on my bike. I filled up at 72 miles and it took 2.8 gallons. With a 4.7 gallon tank that leaves 1.9 gallons of gas left. My range said 70 miles to empty which doing the math would equate to 36mpg?? Any thoughts

No way should you be under 35mpg. Even when riding the **** out of mine, trying ( in vain) to keep up with my buddies 124" monster, do I get under 42 mpg.

That is crazy! We are currently in the blue ridge mountains and running 65-70 my 99 WG is averaging 36 mpgs. I would get your bike checked out. Or maybe she just needs a good highway run at 70 to knock out the cobwebs.

Harley claims a combines MPG of 42 for a '14 WG. Here's the footnote concerning their findings on mileage:

""Estimated from fuel economy tests on a sample motorcycle from the corresponding family conducted by Harley-Davidson under ideal laboratory conditions. Not all motorcycle models undergo fuel economy testing. Fuel economy and mileage may vary among motorcycle models within a family. Your mileage may vary depending on your personal riding habits, weather conditions, trip length, vehicle condition and vehicle configuration and other conditions. Break-in mileage may vary.""

My 96ci Dyna averages low 40's combined. I use the trip meter and figure 40 MPG and ignore the gauge, as it's rather worthless. tomp dd50

alots going to depend on your map. and riding habits.

for my 153.7 mile round trip commute. up and down highway 101 from san jose to monterey ( 2009 fatbob)

stock i was at 45mpg.
after the stage 1 i was at 42 mpg. with fuel moto's map.
after remapping itself (4000 miles of learning in the PV autotuner, applied at 500mile intervals) im at 39 mpg. but the bike is much happier ( no low rpm lugging quicker rollons...) still got some decel popping to try and sort but it's not horrible.

my batwing comes in tommorow so i'll start recording again to see if that changes anything.

each increment was a minimum of 10 tanks and as many as 40 tanks (current).

Get if off post and on the highway for a while. If your base is anything like mine, there's a stop sign every 100 feet and 25 mph zones all over. You aren't gonna get good mileage like that.

Even with a completely open loop tune and lots of WOT, I still get 36mpg, but if I never left the base 26mpg wouldn't surprise me at all.

I commute year round on my '08 FXDB and always average 40 mpg on a 20 mile mix of subdivision to highway to city roads. Bike has been dyno tuned.

I've got a non stock 02 WG, gas gauge is broke so I reset the trip thing at every fill up. Unless the trip thing is messed up I'm averaging close to 45 MPG.
