So filled the wide glide up today and only managed 27.5mpg. I thought i would get a little better than that. Mainly on post riding a little off post up to 55mph. Still strictly stock minus baffles removed. Is that fuel mileage normal
That seems really low. Are you sure you calculated it right? Last time I checked mine I got about 40mpg, and it isn't stock. Mostly highway cruising, but regular heavy throttle beatings.
Not sure what "on post riding" consists of. I'm assuming around a military base? If you're riding around at slow speeds you're not going to get the same fuel economy as if you're cruising steady at 60mph.
yea I would double check by doing another mpg check. That is really low mpg.
Riding at 55mph I get 46 on my ss106 and on my 113 I get around 42mpg.
Even riding rather hard I get 36-38 mpg on both of the bikes.
Well on post, military base, usually posted speed limit is 30 or 35. I got 72 miles and it took 2.7 gallons to fill up, what i dont get was my fuel gage was reading almost in the red, i thought there were almost 5 gallon tanks
I wouldn't worry too much about the actual gauge but rather keep track of your mpg with your trip meter. Its far more accurate and will give you a better mpg number. Also, make sure your filling your tank to the same spot, I know on my bike, and depending on the pump, sometimes its really not full when it says it is, and that'll give you incorrect math when you calculate it out. I'd do a couple more tanks worth, and then re evaluate. Even if your putting around at low speeds, I'd doubt you could get that low of mileage unless you never leave first gear...
Sounds crazy low to me. I have an app that tracks mileage and over the last year I've averaged just over 40 on the Ultra Limited in many combined conditions. I also usually ride 2 up.
30 or 35 is city driving and nobody gets good mileage at that speed with the stops and starts. 1/2 tank 72 miles = theoretically 1 tank 144 miles. alot of people only get about 160 miles on a fill up. Take it out for a good ride and get back to us.
