Last summer bought an FXDF with forwards, bolted on bags and a windshield and headed to Sturgis from Alberta Canada. Was barely across Montana before I was wishing for someplace else to move my feet and give my legs a break...one position doesn't work for me and I had mid controls/highway pegs before the snow flew again...glad I did, too...much nicer touring. Was considering floorboards until I test road a Dyna Switchback...graunch left and grind right...no thanks; comfy but not much clearance. But at 5' 10" I'm practically a midget here, too...and never had forwards before either...whatever you're comfy with, but I gotta be able to move my feet or I'm not making many miles comfortably

The Kuryakyn parts I listed should work fine on your Fat Bob. Also, you might consider the mini-floorboards also...part # 4392 I think.
The HD floorboard kit would work too....it's just pricey at $400.
I can't do the HD kit anyway because of my D&D Fatcat doesn't have the clearance for that kit. D&D makes a pipe especially to fit with the FLD floorboard kit for the Switchback, which mine isn't, so I'm limited to aftermarket parts for this application.

I've had 2 softails with forward controls, now a Dyna with mid controls. I'm in favor the forward controls once you get used to them. I had a 79 low rider with mid controls and front pegs but I feel safer (because I had the forward controls. I'm sure many will disagree.

Bolt right on in place of pegs for around $175 total through Amazon.
Sharkman, do you have any photos of your boards.....and was it a good move?
I'm considering the same thing.

Cheers

I ended up going with the Kury mini-floorboards instead. Part# 4392.
They were much cheaper and didn't sacrifice lean angles. It was a good move & I like them so far.

I still may end up going with the 7916s with 8883 spline adaptors and moving the minis to the passenger footrests at some point, but happy with the minis for now.

Attached is the only pic where you can see the minis, but it's not a close pic.

Thanks for the photo......I'm still not sure which type to try, and they are very pricey over here so I need to make the right call.

HD forward controls, with Kury Swing-Wing pegs. They are almost a mini-board when folded up.. I can stretch out, or really stretch with them unfolded... or put my toe on them... or swing the passenger pegs down and put my foot back on those.

Before I bought my Wide Glide (below), I sat on a Dyna with mid's and knew instantly that I wouldn't enjoy it for more than 30 minutes. I'm 6'0" and feel very cramped when I sit with mid's. On longer rides, I'd appreciate a set of mid pegs to go with my forwards, but I enjoy stretching out MUCH more than sitting with my knee's at a 90 degree angle, haha. I feel like I'm an adult riding one of those kids motorcycles, haha.

I use mid control and if I ride for a time on the highway I use my highway
pegs, keep the mid controls just my two cents

my 1st dyna (a 98 fxd) i left the mid controls on and put highway pegs on it, that worked out great... on my 2010 dyna fxdc i took the mids off and went with forward controls and i miss the 2nd option for my feet, i have thought of putting the mids back on but love the looks of the forwards and i can live with them.... just my input
