For me footboards turned out to be the best of both worlds.
Same here.
I'm only 5'7" with 31" inseam, but mids have a tendency to give me horrible cramping in my hips from time to time.
Owned a '98 FLTR for a bit & fell in love with floorboards. Plenty of room to move around & placed my feet & legs in a very natural/comfort position. Checked out a FLD at the stealer & the 'boards were positioned perfectly for me, so that is going on the wish list for my '02 FXD. Might give up some lean angle, but doubt it's any worse than the plethora of lowered bikes out there.
I loved the mids for aggresive riding only...the mids gave me hip cramps like no other...almost unbearable at times...i had highway pegs from the get go and honestly for me did nothing because i got the cramps when switching gears...there called highway pegs for a reason so .then i smartened up and ..went to forwards...at first was a bit different...but quickly grew to love them...im 5"10....and now im goin with the fld footboards....love the look and your able to move around comfortably...should have gone this route from the begining...would have saved alot of time and money...
