Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
I just bought a '08 Springer.I've owned many bikes, but never a Harley or any crusier for that matter with forward controls/pegs.My thighs are killing me in 10 minutes. It gets tiring holding your legs up in that position,as opposed to placing them straight down or slightly rear set.Especially on the highway.
Does it take some getting used to? Anyone else have trouble with this riding position?
RE: Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
Nope, I love my forwards. Changed from the knee/ankle torture positioning that comes standard on a Super Glide. And I'm only 5' 11". P.S. It might help to get a boot with a nice arch and maybe a lugged sole to get some bite on the foot pegs.
RE: Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
I love forward controls. Simply the most comfortable way to ride. I like to get out on the highway in 6th and kick my heals out on top of the pegs. Its like sitting on my lazyboy. Hopefully you will get used to it.
RE: Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
I really miss not having them on my Springer. I'm getting used to the 'normal' position, but I want to move them more forward at some point. Anyone know how much of a headache that will be?

Oh,I'm 6' 2" so reach isn't a problem.
Get the H-D heel rest. They're adjustable and they usewhateverstyleshifter peg you want to put on them. Theywill give you the ability to "relax" on the pegs. I'm 6'3"+ and I've been running heel rest on my forward control bikes for years now.
They're pricey but very well worth it... IMO
RE: Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
I actually prefer forward controlswith foot pegs to anything else. You mentioned"tiring holding your legs up in that position".No need to hold your feet in a position, just relax.
RE: Forward Controls: Do you think they are comfortable?
I'll check out the heel rest at the dealer tomorrow.I do rest my legs by placing my heel(actually the bottom of my calf) on top of the pegs.My boots have a smoth bottom,so I can't hook them on the pegs.I may look like an idiot, but on the highway,I actually hook the heel of by boots on the passenger pegs. It's the only way I can relax my legs at speed. And,yes I do have to "hold" my legs up on the forward pegs, hopefully the heel rest will solve the problem.
