I should clarify that the sound wasn't as much a rasp as it was a rattle.... and I went through every freakin' possible nut and bolt around the pipes trying to figure out what was making the sound.
I concluded it was just the mufflers sounding f'd up. I could have gotten a pair made on a Friday afternoon.
I have the SE II's on my 97 Wide Glide and did the baffle bend as well, about 5000 miles on em and they still sound good to me,especially under my carport after a few cool snacks(neighbors don't agree for some reason).
Fine day here on the Gulf Coast in south Alabama,75 degrees and sunny, too bad I'm stuck at work.

Rawdeal
Rawdeal,
Looked in my pipes today and understand what you guys are suggesting - how much of a 'bend' did you do? Did you notice any performance loss after you opened them up?
I have the SE II's on my 03. Like the sound. Loud but not too loud. IMO.
I also have V&H's on my other ride and they sound great but man are they loud. Sets off every car alarm as I ride.
They definitely get attention.
I've had the SEII slipons for a year and half. They've been great. Just swapped the stock baffles for Big City Thunder baffles. Much better...and louder.
Just put the SEII's on with Big City Thunder baffles. Love the sound!!!!!!!! My first set of slipons, in my picture, were HD slipons. While they worked well with the Stage One setup and download, they were just too quite for my taste. I did like the slash down cut better than the bologna cut, but I like the look of the original pipe better. A harley should sound like a Harley, not a Honda. Remember, there is a difference between a good exhaust note and a loud, blatty noise. Most of the guys around here with the VTwin Jap bikes run straight exhaust and they give us Harley riders a bad name for the noise.
