A torque wrench
1/4 drive that has a range of 20-200 in/lb
3/8 drive that has a range of 5-80 ft/lb.
They were very inexpensive, but seem to work very well. I'm happy with them.
I also have a Craftsman 1/2" torque wrench that has a range of 20-200 ft/lb
The one I have is more of a top of the line professional model, and it works very well.
Bought a cheap 1/2" drive torque wrench just for properly torquing lugnuts for tire rotations, and a few other 4-wheel vehicle things. Then when I started on my Dyna, I wanted to do things properly, and I found that I needed a 1/4" and 3/8" drive torque wrench. Most of the stuff I'm doing will most likely be a one time deal, so I didn't want to tie up a lot of cash into 2 torque wrenches that I will likely use once, then throw back up on the shelf and never use again. So I bought the el cheapo 1/4" and 3/8" torque wrenches from Harbor Freight, for like $5 or $10 each (had a coupon). If you wrench on stuff for a living, or a lot, I can see dumping some cash into stuff like that, but otherwise, I'd rather save my cash for other things. I doubt that if something is tightened not exactly to spec that it will fall out and the bike will crash and burn. As a matter of fact, as I've been going through the Harley manual to find tq specs, I've found that they have a pretty broad range for tq specs. So I just set my tq wrench for the middle of those ranges, and crank away
