I have owned many motorcycles in my 40 years of riding. Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati, Aprilia and MV Agusta. All these bikes came with some sort of emergency tools underneath the seat. There are few times that these tools got me home when trouble arose.
I now have 2 Harleys and neither of them came with emergency tools. My buddy have a 2013 Wide Glide and broke down yesterday due to a fuel line. A simple small plier and a flat screwdriver fixed the problem. But he had to wait for more than 2 hours for his brother to recue him. Luckily that's all it took to fix the problem. I wonder if this has anything to do with why I see more HD park on the side of the road than any other manufacturer.
What is everyone here have on their bike while on the road?

I ordered a cheap kit from Winstar, I got it off Amazon and it was not expensive. It was a little role with some sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and even had some extra wire tape and connectors. My ride is an 02, and although low milage I just wouldn't feel safe with out it. I have had the battery die on me and everything I needed to swap out, except the new battery was in the kit.
Short rides close to home, usually not much...usually just my cell phone & extra pair of riding glasses.
Longer rides...cell phone, spare shirt, small set of allens, small set of torx, screwdriver, small flashlight, Leatherman, knife, tape, zip ties, blue locktite, small role of stainless wire, extra riding glasses, gloves, water & a Ruger LCP .
HD hard tool bag sits on the bottom of the frame and holds all my tools. It is a pain in the *** to get in and out of so that's why I use it for tools hoping I never have to open it. Small but all this fits in there nicely....
-Extra headlight bulb
-12 mini fuses
-Mini rachet
-6 Tork bits
-mini driver with all kinds of bits
-Roll of electric tape
-2 spare spark plugs
-cell phone cigarette lighter charger
-pocket knife
-zip ties
-rolled into a microfiber cloth
Used it a couple times good to have and its out the way I forget it's there.
