I have a 2007 FXDWG and have to store it for the winter up to the front of the garage fairly tight to the front wall in order to get my car in the garage. It is very hard to maneuver around to get it into position. I really don't need the lift function per say, just the wheels function on the lift in order to move it around so that it's not a pain to get out for the winter days that I want to ride.
I'm not looking for a $2,000 lift, just something that I can roll my bike around on in the garage.
Any input would be appreciated.
I don't believe that Harbor Freight Dolly will work for a Wideglide. Harbor Freight lists it as 75.5 inches long from pin to pin. The 2007 Wideglide is 97" long.
If you buy a regular bike lift you will need to find one that is low profile (expensive) and you will need to buy the Harley frame adapters for it.
I have a Torin Big Red motorcycle jack that has worked with every motorcycle I have ever owned EXCEPT for my Wideglide. Its not low profile enough and the Wideglide has that frame extension on the brake side underneath that screws everything up.
I use a Pitbull manual lift for my 2010 FLSTC. Currently have the bike shoved into the corner (not for long!) to get both cars in the garage due to bad weather. Have kept it on the lift for months during overseas assignments with no issues. Lift is solid.
I went to the pit bull motorcycle lift web-site. It looks like a pretty good lift and roll around device. A little pricy, but looks like what I need. I guess one doesn't need, but want. Ha Ha
After looking at both the PitBull and the J&S lift.I ordered the J&S at $399.95 plus shipping= $431.37.
I found a u-tube video that showed the Harbor Freight, Pit Bull and the J&S lifts in action. The J&S was hands down the best choice.
Good choice. You will not regret having a quality lift. I use mine all the time. You really can safely sit on the bike while on the lift. It is just that stable. If I start the engine while on the J&S, I usually put a couple of straps on it, but that is easily done.
