So that Moose packing seems to work after it's been blown out a little. It doesn't add the lower tone you're looking for, though.

Once my quiet baffle arrives, I'll take some pics of it and post them here before I install it.

I've rewrapped my quiet baffles in my Big Shots , had to pull them the first time because it was too restrictive and increased top end noise. The QB are set up different--not straight thru--so you may not have to worry about making your valves work harder...just something to think about

Wanted to follow up on this..

The bike sounded awful with the fabric wrap. Well, maybe not awful.. just too bass-y and boomy.

I tried some 5/8 stove rope, loosely wrapped around the baffle, which sounded MUCH better.. however it was now just a bit too low and and not enough bark to it.

So i took that off and replaced it with 3/8 stove rope, which I think should do the trick.

What is stove rope? Got a pic? I really need to quiet this thing down before my neighbors get back from their trip.

I put my spare DK Thunder Torque in my pipe today and went on a 2 hour road test. I'm pretty please with the change in tone. It's much deeper now, but still has that hot rod sound.

Here's a link to my post about it in another thread with sound clips: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/12113299-post57.html

Here is a link to what I bought (any hardware stove might have it):

It sounds great now. The obnoxious loudness at idle is gone. It's not quiet just not overly loud now. When getting on it it sounds good. I believe the stove rope is supposed to last very long too.

So I'm out rising and call my wife and have her go outside to video me as I ride past her. She takes 2 videos of me going past.. One about 30mph and another one accelerating.

When I get back she asked me why I wanted her to record me riding my Honda, wasn't it the Harley I was working on?!!

I was like WTF?

She said it was so quiet that she thought it was the honda I was riding.

Damnit.

Off to try again.

If you use lace and/or crotchless, the color is irrelevant.

If they were Lace or crotchless,I agree. Color wouldn't matter, just size.

I've tried several dif types of fiberglass packing. The Moose packing looks worth a try.
So far the steel wool sounds best in my old SE muffler with home made baffles.

So the stove rope made it as quiet as a Honda? Interesting. How did it feel? Any decrease in power?
