I have a Python 2-1 and I removed my packing right from the start.

if you are not worried about the loudness, why are you even pissing with it?

My baffle was so restrictive that I modded it. I had this pipe once before so I knew how to make it the way I wanted it.

Your pipe doesn't need the wrapping in it if that is what you're concerned about.

If you need to lower the tone, try making a lollipop out of a washer and bolting that in.

That is a very cool site. I could spend all day reading the info there. I'm using the DK Thunder Torque Cone, which appears to operate under the same theory as the lollipop. After reading, I may try changing the angle of it in the pipe to see how the butt dyno feels.

Personally, I want my pipe quieter. It is just too loud for me, but I don't want to give up too much power getting it there either. I'm trying to find a good compromise.

Yeah I wish I could just remove any wrap and not care but the bike would sound like a raped banshee.

Here's the new sound clip with the extra Moose packing. Missus Squid says it sounds much quieter in the driveway. Seems much quieter at idle to me too, but still loud as hell when I want it to be. I put a quick 30 miles on it this morning and think I'm good with the sound now.

That sounds really good. I listened in my music studio. Nice thumps sound with no raspiness.

I made some changes you might be interested in if you're still working on this izzy.

The first pic is the bike at idle with the stock baffle wrap + moose packing (105db).
The second is after I removed all the stock wrap and put a layer of stainless steel wool, then a layer of the Lexx MXe packing (97db). The Lexx stuff appears to be the same as the Moose packing, but knitted together tightly making it much easier to wrap.

Both were measured in my garage (with the door open) and the meter about 12" from the end of the pipe while idling.

I took it on a 100 mile ride this morning and noticed no drop in power. The sound is slightly more subdued, but plenty loud with extra throttle.

Still no response from Kurt at Bassani on that quiet baffle. I'm pretty disappointed in the total lack of response since he said he was sending it 2 months ago. I'll keep trying until I get the quiet baffle. This seems to be a reasonable solution in the meantime.

Here's a new sound clip:

Nice where did you get the stainless steel wool from. It was about 50 here so I got to go out for a bit. With the fiberglass clothe it feels just a bit too deep and not raspy enough so i'm gonna try just doing 2 layers and make it a tad bit looser.

The fireplace rope was too quiet, I wonder if that would hurt the engine any?

So i pulled the baffle and the fiberglass cloth didn't look too good. I'd say it had about a total of 3 hours on it, in all, since I put it on. I could go with heavier cloth but I'm done with that.

So today I decided to go back to the stove rope I had laying around. I stayed with the 3/8 diameter but instead of wrapping it loose so the weave is close knit I instead wrapped it a bit tighter. This made the weave a little more porous and should make it a little louder as well. You can kind of see what I mean when you look closely at the rope in the pic.

I don't care if it's too quiet at this point. Of all the things I've tried the stove rope seems to hold up the best and gave it the best tone. Hopefully, it'll be a bit louder now. Because of the long woven pattern on the rope i don't have to worry about it breaking down over time and flying out, or fraying apart over time like the cloth.
