Thanks for the advice. I would love to be able to test drive before I buy. I know I like how the SB rides. The only problem is I'm buying through a military program that gets it cheaper and I have to do it while I'm deployed or I miss out on the deal, thats why I'm trying to get others advice. When I did have a SB it seems like I kept trying to do things that ultimately looked more like a WG without the rake. I like that look and if the ride isn't that much different will probably go that way. The one thing that does worry me is the cornering in rain or catching the cracks. Didn't have a bad time with it on the SB but wouldn't want it to be much worse either.
Get the wide glide Dan, you won't be sorry. Stay safe and thank you for your service.
Dan, if you can get around Bagram AF, there was a dealer on the base when I was there a couple years ago, you can save several thousand if you buy it in country and pick it up when you get home.
Stay safe my friend.

For the OP: Bagram is where I purchased mine, saved about $2500, so not a bad deal at all.
No experience with other Harleys, but I absolutely love my WG! Opinions and tastes change, but right now I could not imagine being happy with another bike.
Second I went from allot of other HD bikes.
Test drove allot bought allot. Ended up with the 2014 SB after testing the older ones then riding one of the new 103 Bobs .. loved the added power vs weight.
Either way both are bad *** bikes .. love the dyna over all my past HD's
OP,
Thank you for your service! Be safe. I was a little leery of the skinny front tire on my WG but like you I loved the look and extra leg room. I remedied the skinny front tire by changing rims and tires with the 120/70 up front there is no more worries about grooves in the road or wobbling.
