Which of these stock rigs is the best performing and most worth the money? does the wide glide have more rake to it, and if so, how does that affect its performance? Thanks Guys, This is my first bike in over 10 years, and am way behind on things.
I rode both the WG and the FB and ended up going with the Bob. Both great bikes but I just loved the seat position and handling of the FB. Don't regret my decision one bit.
+1 on what Brad said. I also have the Fatty and am blown away by how well it handles for a near 700 lb sled! I do like the looks of the 'Glide but ride/handling was NOTHING like the Fatty. I don't regret my decision a bit either.
Not going to argue with either one of the above posts. But, i went with the Wide Glide. Wife went with the Street Bob. I am sure the FB will blow away either one of them in handling, but i drag my bootheels on a daily basis on my W.G., and thats as far over as i wanna lean! I love the stretched out long and low look and feel, and thats what the W.G. gave me. Dont buy one without trying all 3. It could be an expensive wrong decision. Of course, I dont know if there is a wrong choice in picking between these 3.
the fatbob is probably the best handling bike out the door. Triple disc brakes too. The bike you should get.... the one you like the best.... if I were buying a new bike, I like the wideglide best visually, yet I would get a fatbob as it is the better bike for me. Oh, yeah, saddlebags on a wideglide are stupid looking cause of the way the rear turn signal lights have to be remounted, so don't get a wideglide if you want saddlebags in the future.
Got my Fatbob in September 2008 before the new Wide Glide came out. I've looked at the wide glide, and have no regrets for getting the Fat Bob. Best bike I've ever own. Handles great in the curves, and makes my 1/4 mile gravel driveway a no brainer with the wide tires. Love the bike.
The bottom line is which bike fits you best. They're all great bikes. Sit on them, Ride them, then make your decision.
yeah make sure you ride all three. I got a WG last month and I'm kinda wishing I would have bought a street glide instead. I ride with a few crotch rockets and always find myself dragging the crap out of something, so now after I have it I kinda wish I would have bought a bigger cruiser and a buell also but OH WELL I have it and love it.
but as far as handling goes ALL HARLEY'S SUCK *****. but they are made for cruising not hauling ***.
i agree w/ what everyone has posted, and am actually a little surprised we didn't get some jackA's making ridiculous comments about one or the other.
so IMO, the wide glide is a better looking bike, love the racked out front end and has a bit more of a chopper feel to it. BUT, because of this the Bob is gonna handle better. So, i ended up going with the wide glide for a few reasons: i'd been riding sport bikes my whole life and knew the HD wouldn't compete and like the guy above said, HDs are made for cruising, PLUS, i'm 6'3" and felt the FB was a little small for me, so i ride the WG with extended forward controls and i can cruise very comfortably. So if you are a average to small guy and like the look of the Bob, go with it, b/c it will handle better. But if looks are important and you are taller, the wide kicks *** and still rides great for an HD. I'm glad i chose the WG.
Love the looks of the CVO Fat Bob, but first two items to go would be the cross-eyed headlight and the 'tommy gun' exhaust ....
Course the Wide Glide's got the 'tommy gun' too ... for the money, I'd probably buy the Street Bob if I were buying a new bike today ....
But, just me ... I probably wouldn't buy a new bike ... I'd probably buy a '69 flat side shovel head police FLH I recently saw for asking $12,000 see if I could talk the seller down a grand or so ... buy it for $10,500 in a heartbeat ...!
