Default Vance and hines big shots in europe

Hello guys..
I have been on the look to upgrade my exhaust. I allways liked the design of V&H pipes. Now over some time i decided on the V&H big shots staggered. Both because I like the look but allso the "imitated" 2 into 1 power chamber for performance, and I still get the 2 into 2 look that i prefer.

Now the shitty thing is if i buy them in europe where i dont need to pay import tax they will cost me close to 1000$ !!!
And if i buy them from the us, then with the import tax and shipping I will end up somewhere between 900-1000$ too

There have got to be a cheaper way? So european members please help me out.. How did you guys make a good deal on V&H pipes? Or am I just being a cheap ***?

I think being in Europe is gonna bite you in the ***, regardless. Higher cost of living + higher taxes + tax-the-crap-out-of-it-'cos-it's-US-made = expensive parts for you guys.

When I had bikes in Germany, it used to take my breath away what dudes were paying for parts & bikes. I don't know how y'all afford to live over there, let alone ride.

Beautiful & met some wonderful people, but breathtakingly expensive, especially the UK.

Hej nicolai:-) ja der er langt imellem danskerne her.

Carl 69... You are gonna cry when you hear the new price for my street bob... 50000$... I made a killer deal on mine less than one year old 40000$.. But denmark is one of the worst states in europe regarding bike and car prices. Allso tax on income.. But our sallaries are propably higher though, to compensate.

Where are you from in denmark nicolai?

Since I no longer live in the States I have much the same problems as you.

What I did/do is look for items in the classifieds here and on ebay. The upside is you pay less for second hand to customs. The downside to that is a lot of people don't want to ship overseas...so I opened an a/c with a shipping forwarder that provides you with an address in the U.S. mine happens to be set up in Florida.
They do so much shipping that they get big discounts on shipping rates with the big courier companies.
You can also consolidate a bunch of little bits and pieces into one big package to ship. They'll allow you store parts for up to 30 days before the start charging storage fees.
I just paid them for a second year so I'm happy with their service.

well seeing as how you are up in Denmark I cant really help you but here is my idea anyway. Find an American soldier, Marine or whatever that is stationed nearby. They give us an address that is considered an American address so we dont pay for import tax when we buy things...

It is a tricky problem and one that most of us European riders face. There are a few ways around it but they are all tricky, some being smuggling.

Personally I abuse the good nature of friends in the US and other friends that are travelling there. I get them to buy items there, unpack them from the original box and ship them to me marked as a gift. Even this sometimes fails. I got some SE exhausts shipped this way recently and they got taxed.

You can sign up online to one of the package forwarding companies that someone else here mentioned. They do have a big overhead charge though and it often comes out no cheaper.

There are also a couple of rather dubious companies in Europe (such as Route 66 in France) who claim to manage this for you. Only used them once and still got stung for taxes and handling charges so I don't recommend them.

If you come up with anything better then I'd love to hear about it!
